But the question of which medical malpractice policy form is better depends on each physician's, surgery center's, and allied professional's long term plans.  For facilities, occurrence coverage is always the best choice.  For physicians and allied practitioners, if they plan to practice in one location and retire, claims made will often trump occurrence.  If they will move among different states a number of times throughout their careers, occurrence will usually be the preferred coverage.
